REV. DR. BRYCE RONALD GILMER, PASTOR
Ron Gilmer served as UPC's pastor 2008-2011. During this time, he preached sermons on subjects from "rarely preached, controversial stories in Scripture" to the Psalms. He led adult educational series on Harvard professor Michael Sandel's book Justice: What's the Right Thing to Do? and another on the subject of spiritual autobiography. He visited the sick and imprisoned regularly and was grateful to be pursuing social justice with a congregation that has been doing so for years.
A graduate of Florida State University (Ph.D.), Union Presbyterian Seminary (M.Div.), University of South Carolina (M.A.) and Wofford College (B.A.), Ron taught History of World Religions at Shelton State Community College and Justice: What's the Right Thing to Do? at the University of Alabama's Honors College.
Ron is working his way around to all of the Major League ballparks in North America and thus far has made it to games in Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Minnesota, New York and St. Louis. He and his daughter Lydia have two dogs: a Boston terrier named Wofford and a teacup poodle named Bubbles, and they now reside in Atlanta, Georgia.
