Dear UPC friends,

I look forward to being with you in worship Sunday. It has been a good time away, but I look gladly to being home with you in worship and life.

The experiences have been enriching. I am moved by the sense of the Iona pilgrimage participants as to their journeys, their realization of the rich value of taking time apart, away in such a beautiful natural setting. As we reflected on the lives and gifts of the Celtic saints, so we reflected upon the gifts each of these present day pilgrims bring to their work and lives, and how to honor that in the return to “normal” life.

I also spent time in Canterbury, not only working with the British labyrinth folks there, but visiting and learning more of that segment of the Christian expansion story, and how it has communicated the history from its own perspective. Isn’t that true of us all?

And yes, time with former church communities in the Midlands of England has been good, as I see how their calls to ministry and service are both fulfilled and confronted with the issues of the current times. Doesn’t that sound familiar!

I am offering a link to an interesting website, which gives us all a perspective of new hopes and possibilities for peace and reconciliation.

http://www.npr.org/blogs/parallels/2013/05/30/181928768/Palestinian-Girls-Look-For-Ways-To-Protest-Without-Stones

As Leslie Sheppard comes to share his story of the Peace Corps during Sunday’s sermon time, we all have the chance to reflect on the world voices, the ways we each in our own individual and communal ways, can help further the reality of the beloved community.

See you Sunday in worship,

Peace and love,

Kay
